Welcome to a small guide to taking down the A&K Masada Replica. If you have taken apart an M4 or G36 in the past you will more than likely be able to find your way around the A&K Masada, however, there are a few unique touches to its construction that could trip some people up.

First step is to set aside some time; if you rush, mistakes can be made. Unfortunately there are some unique components to the A&K Masada, and carelessness could lead to you owning a rather large Masada shaped paperweight. Once the Masada has your undivided attention, make sure the aeg is on safe and remove the magazine and battery.

Step One: Remove the quick change barrel assembly and the unplug the in-line
spade connections on the wiring.

Step Two: You will now need to push out the 3 pins highlighted in the above picture.

Step Three: With the the pins removed you can now separate the upper receiver from the lower receiver (at this point you can also remove the stock even thought, in this guide, I personally leave it to a latter point. To remove the stock you will need to fold the stock and unscrew the bolt on the base of the hinge plate. Anyone with a G36 will be familiar with this process. Once this bolt has been removed you will be able to apply upward pressure to the stock and it will slide out from its housing in the lower receiver)

Step Four: Unscrew the pistol grip base plate. Now remove the spade connections of the motor and you can lift the motor clear.

Step Five: With the motor removed you can now look down the pistol grip, at the bottom you will see two screws: both need to be removed. A magnetic head on you screw driver is almost a must with this to avoid parts falling into the gearbox.

Step Six: You will need to now use a small allen key to loosen the grub screw on the sector switches on both sides of the lower receiver. Once you have loosened the grub screws enough, you will be able to lift the selector switch free. With the selector switch on the left hand side of the receiver be careful with the additional small parts that you will find underneath: Namely the spring and nub that allow it to click into place.

Step Seven: Now comes the part that is for me at least, the hardest to describe in print. We need to remove the magazine release catch. To do this you need to first pull down on the bolt release catch (A). With the bolt release catch still pushed down you will need to apply pressure to the magazine catch (B), you will notice that the opposite side of the magazine catch (C) will push out away from the receiver further than normal. You can know release your pressure from the bolt release catch as long as you keep pressure on the magazine catch (B). With the magazine catch pushed out it will allow enough clearance for you to unscrew C. With C unscrewed you will be able to remove both halves of the magazine catch and the spring from the receiver and put these to one side.

Step Eight: I chose to remove the stock at this point. As described earlier, you will need to unhinge the stock and unscrew the bolt on the base of the hinge plate, anyone with a G36 will be familiar with this process. Once this bolt has been removed you will be able to apply upward pressure to the stock and it will slide out from its housing in the lower receiver. As you have read further up the page the stock can be removed at an early stage if you so wish.

Step Nine: You can nnow life the gearbox out of the lower reciver, you may need to rotate the indiviudial slector switch pegs untill there teeth have disengaged from the cog on the gearbox itself, you will be able to look down into the gearbox between the gearbox and the reciver wall to see when this has happened.

The end.
